san bernardino county, california public government records

San Bernardino County, California is the 12th largest county in the United States. Located on the southeast tip of California, San Bernardino is home to over 2,007,800 residents. Father Francisco Dumetz named the county on May 12, 1810. The name was chosen to honor the feast day of Saint Bernardino.
Today, San Bernardino County is made up of mostly forests and deserts. In fact, the Mojave National Preserve grazes some of the county’s eastern deserts. The area is prime for nature loving tourists seeking the tranquility of the outdoors. A few of San Bernardino’s attractions include the Black Mountain Fire Outlook, San Bernardino National Forest and the Santa Ana River Trial.

The county seat of the area sits in the city of San Bernardino. The courthouse is located at 351 North Arrowhead Ave. San Bernardino, CA 92415. It is where you will find San Bernardino County’s public government records such as birth certificates, military records, tax information, death certificates, deeds and other information. Parking is often scarce in and around the courthouse but it is said that the county is undergoing some renovations which will soon house 275 parking spaces on the courthouse property.

While the courthouse is a wonderful place to find free government records, they do have their limitations. County courthouses will only house records from their specific area. If you were to need records from another county or state, you wouldn’t be able to retrieve all the information you needed to conduct a thorough search. Thus, many people find it more convenient and thorough to do a records search online.
